The study of rheumatic disorders in children and adolescents is the focus of Pediatric Rheumatology, a sub – specialty of Pediatrics. Rheumatological diseases in children are caused by immune system dysregulation, which results in an exaggerated immune response and hyperinflammation that attack the child’s own cells and organs, including the joints, eyes, skin, lungs, heart, gut, and brain.
