Autologous Bone Marrow Transplant
In this method, the patient’s own bone marrow is collected and stored before giving high-dose chemotherapy. After the treatment, the stored bone marrow is given back to help the body recover. This method is used to treat cancers like Neuroblastoma, Medulloblastoma, Wilms’ Tumor, Lymphoma, and Multiple Myeloma. It can also help in treating autoimmune diseases, especially Multiple Sclerosis.
Umbilical Cord Blood Transplant (CBT)
Cord blood transplant is a good option for patients who do not have a matched sibling or unrelated donor. Stem cells collected from a baby’s umbilical cord at birth are used in this treatment.
